Live Blog: Election Night

One hundred and thirty three million Americans voted in 2016. But more than 100 million people voted in 2020 -- before Election Day.

In the most divisive election in decades, election analysts are predicting record turnout -- 140 million to 150 million votes cast in the battle between President Trump and Democratic rival Joe Biden. Polls start closing in the Eastern time zone at 7 p.m., with states like Georgia, Virginia, and South Carolina reporting. At 7:30, we'll hear from key battleground states North Carolina and Ohio. At 8 p.m., all of Florida will be in, as well as perhaps the biggest state of the night, Pennsylvania. Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas, Minnesota and New Mexico are next, and then all the rest.

The Trump campaign is hoping for a massive voter turnout to overcome what most polls show as Biden's narrow but consistent lead in critical swing states and to again defy what many forecasters predict as a Biden win. We shall see. Below are the results of the key states, plus much more.

12:10: Questions are being raised over Fox's early calling of the race in Arizona. The state's governor, Doug Ducey, wrote on Twitter that it's "far too early to call the election in Arizona." 

11:45: Momentum has stalled on election returns for the moment; the count will almost certainly continue over the next several days in the remaining battleground states. 

11:30: Fox has called Arizona for Biden, significantly narrowing Trump's path to reelection. 

11:22: Trump is projected to win the state of Ohio. With Biden's wins on the West Coast, the electoral count is 205-162 in Biden's favor. 

11:15: Trump is holding on to a very comfortable lead in Ohio with just a small sliver of the vote remaining. 

11:06: Oregon, a reliably blue state, has been called for Biden. The electoral vote tally stands at 138-144 in Trump's favor. 

11:00: The president is posting a six-point lead in Ohio with nearly all ballots counted there.

10:55: Demands are growing on social media for major news networks to call Florida for Trump, where he enjoys a 400,000 vote lead with reportedly 99% of precincts having submitted returns. 

10:45: A full Trump sweep of the southern states minus Virginia seems increasingly likely: only Georgia and North Carolina remain in play, and Trump is in the lead in both of them with most of the vote gone.

10:40: Trump leads in the electoral college race with 144 to Biden's 115. Trump is six points ahead in Ohio with most of the vote counted and is posting a 12-point lead in Pennsylvania with about three-quarters of ballots processed. 

8:33-- With 90% of the vote in, Trump leads in FL 50.5% to 48.4%.

8:29 -- The predictable states: Biden wins DE, MD, MA, VT, and the District of Columbia: Trump wins IN, KY, TN, OK.

8:20 -- Wow. Biden up 55-43 in OH with 42% of the vote in. A must-win for Trump. 

8:17 -- With just 16% of vote in, Trump up by 10% in GA. Biden went to the state several times in the waning days of the campaign, presumably thinking he could flip it.

8:00 -- Shocker, Biden wins Massachusetts.

7:20 p.m. -- The Associated Press calls Kentucky for Trump and Vermont for Biden

7:05 p.m. -- Here we go: CNN calls Indiana for Trump. He won that state in 2016, so all square.
