The 25-year-old Cawthorn defeated Democrat Moe Davis and will take the former seat of former GOP Rep. Mark Meadows who departed from Congress to became President Trump's chief of staff.

Cawthorn will become the youngest sitting member serving in Congress, a distinction that presently belongs to New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
