NJ governor's wife, Tammy Murphy, expected to challenge embattled Menendez in Democrat primary
Murphy has been active in her position as New Jersey first lady.
Tammy Murphy, the wife of New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, is reportedly expected to enter a race for the U.S. Senate seat held by Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez, who has remained defiant to calls to resign after being indicted on federal bribery and fraud charges.
Tammy Murphy is planning to file a campaign account soon to explore running for Menendez's seat, according to a report Wednesday from NJ Advance Media.
Murphy has been active in her position as New Jersey first lady, and has an office down the hall from her husband, NorthJersey.com reported in 2018.
Several candidates have already declared their intentions to run for the seat currently held by Menendez, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him. Those candidates include Rep. Andy Kim, real estate investor Kyle Jasey and community organizer Larry Hamm.
