New Jersey Rep. Josh Gottheimer hints at 2025 gubernatorial run
Some of Gottheimer's prominent issues include LGBTQ rights, infrastructure and abortion.
Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., indicated recently that he is considering a 2025 gubernatorial run in the Garden State.
During an interview with Axios, Gottheimer said that many have reached out to him about a campaign and he is strongly considering it.
"I've been incredibly honored that everybody from labor leaders to mayors to party leaders and communities around the state have encouraged me to run, and I'm strongly considering it," he said during the Monday interview.
He further said that he likely won't make an announcement before November because he was primarily concerned with ensuring that Vice President Kamala Harris wins in the presidential race.
Gottheimer was formerly a speechwriter for former President Bill Clinton. He was first elected to the House in 2016, beating a Republican incumbent.
Among his most critical issues are LGBTQ rights, infrastructure and abortion.
