New Mexico Senate seat could flip to GOP as Nella Domenici rakes in record haul
She ended June with more than $2 million cash on hand as she battles it out with Democratic Senator Martin Heinrich, who is running for his third term.
While trying to become the first Republican elected to the U.S. Senate from New Mexico since her father held that position, Nella Domenici is setting records, as her campaign took in $2.9 million in the second quarter of this year.
That is reportedly "the largest fundraising quarter of any U.S. Senate candidate in New Mexico political history," according to Fox News.
Pete Domenici was re-elected in 2002 to his sixth six-year term in the U.S. Senate in a state that has become increasingly blue since that time.
“The momentum is growing, the movement is building, and our state is ready for new leadership," Nella Domenici said in a statement. "New Mexico is at a tipping point and I’m grateful to all of those who are rallying behind our campaign to demand more for our state and our nation."
