GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley has won the first six votes cast in Dixvile Notch, the first New Hampshire town to vote in the state's primary Tuesday.

The vote took place at midnight, as it traditionally does. The six voters were four Republicans and two independents.

However, Haley, a former U.N. ambassador trails front-running former President Donald Trump by double-digits in what is now essentially a two-person race for the Republican Party nomination. However, polls do not show numbers for a Trump-Haley race because the other top candidate, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out Sunday.

The small resort town has been the first-in-the-nation voting location since 1960, according to The Associated Press

The Dixville Notch vote has mixed results in predicting eventual nominees.

It historically sided with the eventual GOP nominee, a trend that began in 1968 and persisted with accuracy in every presidential primary until 2012. However, in 2020, Democrat Michael Bloomberg won in the tiny resort toewnship with three write-in votes, while Independent Bernie Sanders and Republican John Kasich picked up the most votes in 2016, according to CBS News
