South Carolina schedules special GOP primary for Graham's Senate seat for August 11
The deadline to file for Graham's is July 28 and the primary itself will take place Aug. 11. If a runoff is necessary, it will take place on Aug. 25. Early voting in the primary will begin Aug. 5 and conclude Aug. 7.
The South Carolina Election Commission announced Monday that the special primary election for the Republican nomination for Senate will take place next month, after the late-incumbent GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham died unexpectedly over the weekend.

Graham died unexpectedly over the weekend from a "brief and sudden illness." Preliminary findings from the Medical Examiner of the District of Columbia found the senator died Saturday of aortic dissection as a result of arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Gov. Henry McMaster, R-S.C., has appointed Graham's sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to serve the remainder of her brother's term.
