Tennessee Congressman predicts Michelle Obama will replace Biden as Democrat 2024 nominee
Ogles said that from a grassroots perspective, Michelle Obama would be the best choice.
Tennessee GOP Rep. Andy Ogles predicted Tuesday that former first lady Michelle Obama will replace President Biden as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee.
"I'm not convinced that Joe Biden will be their nominee," Ogles said Tuesday on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "I think that because of his health, because of the many bloopers and the fact that he gets lost in the Rose Garden–I think at the last minute you're gonna see some switcheroo. Gavin Newsom has said it's not going to be him. And so that really points to Michelle Obama maybe at the last minute stepping in here."
There has been a lot of speculation of who would replace President Biden as the Democrat 2024 presidential nominee, much of which has centered on California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Newsom has recently come out and said that he has no plans to run for 2024 and is throwing his support behind Biden.
"President Biden is going to run, and we’re looking forward to getting him reelected," Newsom said during an NBC interview.
Ogles said that from a grassroots perspective, Michelle Obama would be the best choice.
"The only person that could put together on the Democrat side a grassroots army and a fundraising mechanism, in really a moment's notice, would be Michelle Obama," he said. "I'll raise that flag of warning. I think she's going to put her name in the hat at some point."
