Texas Rep. Babin applauds Congress for putting forth bill to make sure only US citizens can vote
Babin said that the number one issue for the 2024 presidential election is the southern border with thousands of people flooding in.
Congressman Brian Babin, R-Texas, praised Congress Thursday for putting forward legislation that would ensure only U.S. citizens could vote in elections.
"Thank goodness for Chip Roy and some good folks over in the Senate [like] Mike Lee," Babin said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "I'm 100% behind this bill. We have got to save America."
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, held a Wednesday press conference where they discussed the "Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act" which would require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections.
Babin explained that this bill is important because the election could be decided by illegal aliens if they are allowed to vote.
"This could throw the election. When you've had the sheer numbers of people coming over the border illegally – we think anywhere from 10 to maybe 12 or 14 million people – if you just had just a few, one or two percent, you could actually throw this election and it would be decided by illegal aliens," he said.
He said that the number one issue for the 2024 presidential election is the southern border with thousands of people flooding in.
"We have got to get a handle on our border," he said. "We've got to know who's coming in. We've got to make sure that the ones that are coming in are benefiting the United States of America and not just one party."
