Tim Scott files paperwork with FEC to jump into the 2024 presidential race

South Carolina GOP Sen. Tim Scott filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Friday to run for president in 2024.

Scott is expected to announce his presidential campaign on Monday morning in North Charleston, South Carolina, according to NBC Connecticut.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is also expected to launch his 2024 presidential campaign next week, according to multiple reports. 

Scott will be the second 2024 GOP presidential candidate from South Carolina, along with former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.

Other GOP candidates that have announced their campaigns include former President Trump, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.
