Tim Walz meets with the families of Americans held hostage by Hamas

Minnesota governor and Democratic vice presidential hopeful Tim Walz on Thursday met with the families of Americans who are being held hostage by Hamas, to reaffirm his and Vice President Kamala Harris' 'commitment' to getting the hostages home.
The meeting comes a day after the families of the seven American hostages still imprisoned by Hamas in Gaza met with White House officials in Washington, D.C., to get an update on hostage negotiations, according to Axios.
The governor told the families on Thursday that he was devoted to shining "a light on their cause" in his current position, and discussed the ongoing negotiations to secure a ceasefire and hostage exchange.
"Governor Walz [heard] their stories and perspectives and shared Vice President Harris' commitment to doing everything possible to secure the release of their family members and all the hostages," a campaign official told Axios.
The families "expressed frustration" with the progress of the hostage negotiations to the White House and "stressed that everyone needs to play a larger role in reaching an agreement that ensures the hostages' safe return," the families' representatives said in a statement on Wednesday.
The meetings come as the leaders of the Uncommitted National Movement, which has led multiple protests over the war in Gaza, declined to endorse a specific candidate for president this year. But the movement also encouraged voters not to support former President Donald Trump or a third party candidate.
