Trump endorses Tudor Dixon in Michigan GOP gubernatorial primary
Dixon is a business woman and conservative media personality
Former President Trump on Friday endorsed Tudor Dixon in her bid to win the Michigan GOP gubernatorial primary next week and take on Democrat incumbent Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
"Tudor Dixon is a Conservative Warrior who built an impressive career in the steel industry while working with her fabulous father, who is now watching her proudly from above," Trump said in a press release. "She raised a beautiful family, and is ready to save Michigan. She’s pro-God, pro-Gun, and pro-Freedom, and she won’t be stopped!"
"She will stand up to the Radical Left as they try to indoctrinate our children and is ready to take on one of the worst Governors in the nation, Gretchen Whitmer, who is trying to destroy Michigan and our Country," he continued. "Tudor Dixon will make a great Governor and has my Complete and Total Endorsement. She will not let you down!"
Trump earlier the same day hinted he would make the endorsement.
"Giving Tudor Dixon a good, hard look," Trump posted Friday on his Truth social media platform. "Brought her to everyone's attention at our big Michigan Rally. All of her supporters are working hard for Endorsement/Victory. Stay tuned."
Dixon and five other candidates face off Tuesday in the GOP primary.
Meanwhile, Michigan Democrats have launched a multi-million dollar ad campaign against Dixon. The effort appears to be an another attempt by Democrats to meddle in a GOP primary to get a candidate they think they can defeat in November.
A poll released Friday by Michigan News Source and Trafalgar Group shows Dixon maintaining her lead over the field.
The poll, commissioned by Michigan News Source, shows Dixon leading the race with 28.4%, with chiropractor Garrett Soldano in second place with 19.2 % of the vote.
The poll was conducted among 1,098 likely voters from July 26- 28 with a 2.9 % margin of error.
