Trump suggests that he and Biden take cognitive tests together, as 'a team'
At this point Biden has been very clear that he has no intention of withdrawing as the Democratic candidate.
Former President Donald Trump urged President Joe Biden to have a cognitive test, offering to go take one with him, as “a team.”
“Joe should immediately take a Cognitive Test, and I will go with him, and take one also,” Trump said in a post on Friday on his social media platform Truth Social. “For the first time we’ll be a team, and do it for the good of the Country…”
Trump’s challenge and invitation to Biden comes as the pressure is turned up on Biden within the Democratic Party and from Biden allies in the media who fear that his recent debate performance, and overall state of his mental acuity and physical stamina, greatly increase the chance that Trump will win the election in November. They also fear that the down ballot effect could result in the Republicans winning both the House and Senate.
At this point Biden has been very clear that he has no intention of withdrawing as the Democratic candidate.
While Trump has repeatedly called for Biden to take a cognitive test, according to The Hill, others such as Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, have made similar requests.
So far, Biden has refused to have the type of cognitive test that his critics are calling for, saying he has had neurological exams as part of his annual physicals, and that the job of president is a daily test of one’s cognitive abilities.
“Look, I have a cognitive test every single day. Every day I have that test; everything I do,” Biden said during his interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, his first such interview following the debate with Trump.
