The 2026 Alabama gubernatorial campaign for Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville said Thursday it had raised over $2 million within the first 24-hours of its launch.

Tuberville announced his bid Tuesday, ending weeks of speculation that he would not seek reelection in the Senate next year. He is running to replace GOP Gov. Kay Ivey, who must leave the post because of term limits. 

The campaign said the $2,064,723 raised surpasses its "initial goal and [shatters] the previous Alabama record."

"There are two universal truths in the Yellowhammer state right now: Alabamians love President [Donald] Trump and they want Coach Tuberville to be their next governor," Jackie Curtiss Cox, fundraiser for Tuberville's campaign, told Fox News. "I’ve never seen momentum like this in my more than 10 years in Alabama politics."

He also said the donations are coming from small business owners, entrepreneurs, workers and retirees.

Tuberville, an ally of Trump's, is considered the front-runner in the race, 

His biggest potential competitor, Alabama Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, has opted not to seek the Republican nomination. And there are no other candidates – Democrat or Republican – so far officially in the race, according to Ballotpedia.
