Voting time extended in largest Mississippi county due to ballot shortages
Polls in Mississippi were initially supposed to be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
Voting times in Hinds County, Mississippi have been extended due to multiple polling places having ballot shortages.
A judge extended voting times in four precincts to 10 p.m. EST, while other precincts can vote until 9 p.m.
These shortages were reported to have occurred in multiple suburbs in Jackson, according to The Associated Press.
"This is way beyond anything we've seen in the electoral process," Hinds County Supervisor Credell Calhoun said, according to the outlet. "As hard as we worked to get the vote out and then you're going to have stupidity to not have enough ballots."
Polls in Mississippi were initially supposed to be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
The major race in Mississippi is the gubernatorial race between incumbent GOP Gov. Tate Reeves and Democrat candidate Brandon Presley.
