Embattled GOP Rep. Santos celebrates 'National Oreo Cookie Day'
The House Ethics Committee announced the start of its investigation last week.
Embattled New York Republican Rep. George Santos, who is facing an investigation by the House Ethics Committee, appeared in a jovial mood on Monday as he appeared in a video to celebrate "National Oreo Cookie Day."
"In honor of National Oreo Cookie Day, we in my office, dunk 'em," he says in a video posted to Twitter while dipping one of the eponymous treats into a glass of milk. Santos made the post from his more sparingly used official account rather than his personal handle. In a follow up post, he included a picture of himself holding an entire package of Oreos.

The New York Republican's nonchalant demeanor and lighthearted office antics come amid numerous calls for his resignation and an ongoing investigation against him.
Santos, who flipped a close congressional district in 2022, has admitted to embellishing his resumé while campaigning. Among those exaggerations was a claim that he previously worked for Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. In reality, he worked for a third firm, Link Bridge, that he says merely did business with both companies.
He has also come under fire for dubious claims that his family fled Nazi Germany to escape the Holocaust and has attracted even further scrutiny over reports that he previously performed as a drag queen.
The House Ethics Committee announced the start of its investigation last week.
Since taking office, Santos has introduced a single piece of legislation, "The SALT Relief Act," which seeks to raise the amount of state and local taxes that would be deductible from income on a federal filing.
