Biden heading west to push green energy agenda during scorching heat wave
The President will make stops in three states that have been particularly impacted by the sweltering summer temperatures.
On Monday, the White House announced President Joe Biden is slated to travel to Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah next week, where he will likely link the current heat wave with climate change and offer green energy as an antidote.
As reported by the Associated Press, Biden is expected to tout the collective $375 billion in clean energy and climate change initiatives outlined in the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act and push the states to accelerate the fossil fuel phaseout.
Multiple states across the country have been hit with scorching temperatures this summer. Cities like Phoenix, Arizona, and Albuquerque, New Mexico have seen several days of 100+ degree heat.
Many Democrats have argued this summer’s heat wave is a manifestation of climate change, but Climate Depot founder Marc Morano has cast doubt on this assumption, noting that three-fourths of state temperature records were broken before the 1950s and still stand.
EPA data shows the U.S. had its worst heat waves in the 1930s, despite the vast majority of CO2 emissions coming after that.
