DOE announces $150 million training package for ‘energy efficiency’ contractors
The workers will be "will be well-prepared to implement energy upgrades," the department said in a press release.
On Monday, Biden's Department of Energy (DOE) said it will spend $150 million in grants on "energy efficiency contractors" throughout the United States, as part of its broader plan to successfully carry out the administration's green agenda.
According to a press release on DOE's website, states will use the money to "begin training a new generation of residential energy contractors." It will "attract and educate new workers in the energy efficiency industry, train and empower existing workers, and support business owners to make homes healthier and more energy efficient," which DOE says are crucial to achieving its climate goals.
Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm stated in the announcement that America's "clean energy future" requires having more "trained, certified workers" to help install green energy systems in homes and buildings nationwide for the sake of the "climate crisis."
The money used is drawn from the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act and is managed by the State-Based Home Energy Efficiency Contractor Training Grants Program.
