Glass that protected the ‘Mona Lisa’ from climate activists was made by Koch Industries
The glass was developed by Guardian Industries, which is one of the Koch companies. Koch Industries were founded by Fred Koch, whose sons made a fortune in fossil fuel investments and used some of the money to fund various libertarian causes.
The “Mona Lisa” was the target Sunday of another soup attack by climate activists, but Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece was saved by the protective glass shield made by companies owned by the Koch family.
The famous painting sits behind a sheet of glass that was specifically designed for museum displays. The glass was developed by Guardian Industries, which is one of the Koch companies.
The Koch companies were founded by David's and Charles' father, Fred Koch. David and Charles made a fortune in fossil fuel investments and donated money to various libertarian causes. It’s made them the subject of various left-wing hit pieces in multiple publications over the past several years. David Koch died in 2019.
According to CBS News, the two activists Sunday threw soup at the painting to protest the French government is breaking its climate commitments.
"Our farming system is sick. Our farmers are dying at work," the activists said, according to CBS.
