Half the attorneys general in the U.S. file a legal challenge to Biden’s EV mandate
Nearly half of Americans in a recent Gallup poll said they wouldn’t purchase an EV, and Ford has lost nearly $5 billion on its EV lines last year.
A coalition of 25 state attorneys general filed a legal challenge against the Biden administration’s electric vehicle mandate.
The coalition, led by Kentucky's Russell Coleman, argues that the Environmental Protection Agency’s tailpipe emissions standards rule, which was finalized in March, exceeds the agency’s authority.
The states' top attorneys are asking the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia to vacate the rule.
“The Biden Administration is willing to sacrifice the American auto industry and its workers in service of its radical green agenda. We just aren’t buying it. Demand for EVs continues to fall, and even those who want to buy one can’t afford it amid historic inflation,” Coleman said in a statement announcing the lawsuit.
His statement also notes that nearly half of Americans in a recent Gallup poll said they wouldn’t purchase an EV, and Ford lost nearly $5 billion on its EV lines last year.
