In its final days, the Biden administration pushed through a ban on many types of gas-powered water heaters. The House Thursday passed a resolution nullifying the rule.

House Joint Resolution 20 passed 221-198. No Republicans opposed the measure, and 11 Democrats sided with the GOP on the issue.

“Shameful regulations like these not only limit consumer freedom and choice, but they also almost always hit low-income and elderly Americans the hardest. I am pleased to see House members prioritized this repeal and are continuing to put the American people first. I look forward to seeing the Senate taking the same actions,” Tom Pyle, president of the American Energy Alliance, said in a statement.

President Donald Trump had issued a statement Monday supporting the measure, which was introduced by Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Ala., and said he would sign it if it reaches his desk.

“In their final days in office, the Biden-Harris Administration’s Department of Energy introduced a rule that would ban gas-fired water heaters. This egregious rule, if continued, would restrict consumer choice, limit the use of natural gas appliances, and increase prices for American families,” Palmer said in a statement Tuesday

The resolution was introduced under the Congressional Review Act, which allows Congress to block finalized federal regulations.
