Hurricane Beryl makes landfall as Category 4 storm
Caribbean seeing its worst storm in 20 years
Hurricane Beryl made landfall Monday on the Caribbean island of Carriacou as a powerful Category 4 storm.
The storm has winds up to 150 mph, just shy of the 157 mph needed to declare the storm a Category 5.
The National Hurricane Center called Beryl “an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation.”
Hurricane warnings have been in effect all over the Caribbean. Thousands of people are taking cover as the region experiences its worst storm since Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
