Indiana AG says 'Waters of the US' rule is an attack on American property ownership
'Along comes the new socialists of the Biden administration,' said Rokita
Indiana GOP Attorney General Todd Rokita railed against the Biden administration, stating that the Environmental Protection Agency's new "Waters of the United States" rule is actually "a taking of private property."
The rule defines which waters of the United States are specifically protected by the Clean Water Act.
"They were defining navigable waters as streams, or ditches in a farmer's North 40, or even standing bodies of water after a heavy enough rain," Rokita told the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "It was absolutely ridiculous. And they're not ridiculous people in the sense that they know what they're doing. They just want jurisdiction over more and more people's private property for the socialist control reasons that we all know and fear."
Rokita has recently announced that he's joined a coalition along with 24 other states asking a federal court to strike down the Biden administration's EPA Waters of the United States rule.
According to the attorney general, when Donald Trump was president, the EPA was reined back a bit and gave farmers more freedom.
"During the time he was president, he had great policies and one of them was dialing in and reining back the EPA, so that they had a more traditional definition of navigable water," Rokita explained.
Rokita called those implementing this new water rule "socialists."
"Along comes the new socialists of the Biden administration and they're right back at it this time," he stated. "So we have 24 like-minded attorney generals like myself that are going to fight back in court and won't stop until we can keep these unelected bureaucrats — put them back in their hole, so to speak."
