The historic Theater Palisades was destroyed in the wildfire currently ravaging the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles County.

Video footage from local outlet NBCLA showed the building completely engulfed in flames with part of the roof collapsed. Firefighters told reporters that they were not attempting to throw water on the fires as it would be ineffective.

The blaze has thus far consumed 2,900 acres in the area, prompting an evacuation order from Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif.

"Southern California residents: stay vigilant, take all necessary precautions, and follow local emergency guidance," he warned.

Actor Steve Guttenberg was on the scene of a traffic jam as people left their cars behind to escape the blaze.

“What’s happening is people take their keys with them as if they’re in a parking lot. This is not a parking lot. We really need people to move their cars,” he told local outlet KTLA5. “If you leave your car behind, leave the key in there so a guy like me can move your car so that these fire trucks can get up there."
