Trump to meet with Newsom as he tours wildfire devastation
Earlier on Friday, Trump visited western North Carolina to survey the damage from Hurricane Helene and floated eliminating the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after criticizing its handling of the storm damage.
President Donald Trump is set to meet with Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., as part of a trip to Los Angeles in the wake of devastating wildfires in Pacific Palisades.
"The governor is committed to advocating for the needs of Californians in partnership with the federal administration," a spokesperson for Newsom told ABC News.
Trump and Newsom have traded barbs over the state's management of the disaster. Nevertheless, the governor indicated that he would be on the tarmac to meet with the new president.
"I certainly plan to being there at the tarmac and look forward to being able to work, not just with him, but with the administration," he told reporters.
