President Donald Trump on Friday appeared to mock climate activists in light of an expected snowstorm this weekend projected to hit much of the nation.

"Record Cold Wave expected to hit 40 States. Rarely seen anything like it before. Could the Environmental Insurrectionists please explain — WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GLOBAL WARMING???" he posted on Truth Social.

Global warming was a term that preceded climate change in myriad environmental narratives. Global cooling was a common point of scientific conjecture in the 1970s. Some climate scientists link extreme weather incidents to some form of climate change, though the effects of general climate trends on individual instances are disputed.
