Ex-Hunter Biden business partner suggests Joe's calls to son 'an abuse of soft power'
"That's like the pinnacle of power in Washington, D.C." he said.
Former Hunter Biden business associate Devon Archer described the business relationship he had with first son Hunter Biden as well as his relationship with President Joe Biden and the means by which the now-first son would use his familial connections to influence his business prospects.
Archer's enterprise with the first son took the form of what he termed a "government regulatory strategic advisory business." He told Tucker Carlson on Wednesday that the first son contributed his understanding of Washington, D.C., and the American political scene to his enterprises, as well as "the brand" of the Biden family.
"The brand of Biden adds a lot of power when your dad's vice president," he said. "The initial idea around the business is they were gonna provide the government insight and an additional network to raise capital and deal with additional regulatory issues that you might have at the corporate level."
Carlson followed up by asking as to the first son's understanding of regulatory issues, to which Archer responded "I think that he led a team [which understood them]." He further volunteered that Hunter's real specialty was making connections, saying "[h]e was the guy who was an expert at knowing the guy."
Of the then-vice president's involvement, Archer reiterated his claim that Joe Biden called during Hunter's business meetings at least 20 times. He noted that Joe would call Hunter during the meeting and the now-first son would put him on speaker, suggesting that the display of casual proximity to such a senior official would impress Hunter's associates.
"I don't know if it was an orchestrated call in or not... it certainly was powerful though," Archer added. "That's like the pinnacle of power in Washington, D.C." He further termed the calls "an abuse of soft power."
