FBI Director Kash Patel to Charlie Kirk: 'See you in Valhalla'

The comment appeared intended as an expression of solidarity.

FBI Director Kash Patel on Friday paid respects to the late Charlie Kirk during a press conference announcing the apprehension of his killer, but turned heads with a curious remark about plans to meet him in the Norse afterlife.

"To my friend Charlie Kirk. Rest now, brother. We have the watch. And I'll see you at Valhalla," he said. Valhalla is the Norse afterlife in the historic Viking religion.

Kirk was a vocal Christian while Patel was raised Hindu. Neither religion believes in Valhalla. The comment appeared intended as an expression of solidarity.

Notably, entry into Valhalla required death on the battlefield. Patel's remark may have been an homage to Kirk as a sort of warrior for the causes they both believed in.
