Gaetz: Can prove letter calling Biden laptop story 'disinformation' was written to benefit Biden
"We can prove that and much more. Everything I am telling you I can fully corroborate with records and testimony," Gaetz said.
Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz this week claimed he could prove that a highly-publicized letter from 51 former intelligence officials warning that the Hunter Biden laptop story was "Russian disinformation" was written for the sole purpose of benefiting the Biden campaign during the 2020 presidential contest.
In late 2020, a bombshell report from the New York Post released information recovered from Hunter Biden's laptop that included damaging materials on the Biden family. The story was promptly censored by most major social media companies and its digital reach was stifled.
In October of that year, a group of 51 former intelligence officials signed onto a letter asserting that the story bore all the hallmarks of a "Russian disinformation" operation. The laptop has since been proven authentic.
Appearing on Steve Bannon's "War Room" on the Real America's Voice Network, Gaetz told the host that former acting CIA Director Mike Morrell "wanted to be Joe Biden's CIA Director" and "got a phone call from Tony Blinken, who was representing the Biden campaign" in which he suggested that the laptop looked like "Russian disinformation."

"Morrell testifies, that then triggers him to be the ringleader of an enterprise to go to others and to put together a letter for the specific purpose of use by Joe Biden in the presidential debate," Gaetz declared.
"You guys can prove that?" Bannon asked.
"We can prove that and much more," Gaetz insisted. "Everything I am telling you I can fully corroborate with records and testimony."
"Topline: We can prove that the entire purpose of this letter at the outset was to influence a presidential election with some of the most senior people who have ever been in our intelligence community... to pave the way for Joe Biden's presidency."
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan told the John Solomon Reports podcast last week that the letter had "some real connections with the Biden campaign."
