Former madame to the late Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, is expected to plead the 5th when meeting with congressional lawmakers as part of a Republican-led probe into the deceased financier's sex-trafficking operation.

“Her lawyers have replied that she’s not going to answer any questions, ”House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said, according to Politico. “She’s only going to plead the Fifth. I mean, I could spend a bunch of taxpayer dollars to send staff and members down there, and if she’s going to plead the Fifth, I don’t know that that’s a good investment.”

Maxwell is currently in prison on sex-trafficking charges and remains a pivotal figure in the ongoing scandal over the operation. The House and Senate, this week, approved legislation to force the release the Epstein files amid widespread discontent in the public over the Trump administration's handling of the matter.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has 30 days to release the information. She previously orchestrated a now-notorious PR stunt involving the distribution of largely public information to influencers.
