Indiana Republican Rep. Victoria Spartz on Monday criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson's leadership, suggesting she may not support him in Friday's vote even as President-elect Donald Trump has endorsed the Louisiana lawmaker for the job.

"Our next speaker must show courageous leadership to get our country back on track before this 'Titanic' strikes an iceberg at any moment. Severe fiscal calamities often lead to unrest and more government control," she wrote in a statement.

"We must have a vision and a concrete PLAN to deliver on President Trump’s agenda for the American people, which I have not seen from our current speaker despite countless discussions and public promises," Spartz added.

She further demanded that any leadership candidate agree to a handful of debt and spending concessions to address national finances.

Spartz's comments came the same day that Trump himself endorsed Johnson to remain in his post.
