GOP Sen. Murkowski endorses Nikki Haley
Murkowski is, thus far, the sole Republican senator to back Haley in the primary.
Alaska GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski on Friday endorsed former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley in the Republican primary.
Haley has emerged as former President Donald Trump's sole remaining challenger of any standing, though she has yet to win any nominating contest in the primary and recently lost her home state of South Carolina. Murkowski, for her part, has longed sparred with Trump.
"I’m proud to endorse Gov. Nikki Haley," Murkowski said, according to The Hill. "America needs someone with the right values, vigor, and judgment to serve as our next President—and in this race, there is no one better than her... Nikki will be a strong leader and uphold the ideals of the Republican Party while serving as a President for all Americans."
Murkowski is, thus far, the sole Republican senator to back Haley in the primary. The former South Carolina governor has vowed to remain in the race "until the American people close the door."
