Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., this week poured cold water on the prospect of Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted madame for late sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, receiving a presidential pardon.

Speaking to NewsNation's Chris Cuomo, Luna said that the "votes aren't there" for a Maxwell pardon and that she was "not getting" one. Notably, a presidential pardon does not require support from Congress, however, a Maxwell pardon would likely prove unpopular.

Maxwell's attorneys have formally requested a pardon from President Donald Trump, though he has not indicated any plans to issue one.

Luna is a member of the House Oversight Committee and has participated in the panel's probe of Jeffrey Epstein, his associates, and his activities. She previously broke with Kash Patel's FBI in asserting her belief that Epstein had been running a honeypot operation, contrary to the assertions of the bureau.
