Republican businessman Dave McCormick has ousted Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., in a hotly contested Senate race that took days resolve.

The Associated Press called the race on Thursday, at which time McCormick led by less than half a percentage point.

Casey first won election in 2006. McCormick's triumph comes on the waves of President-elect Donald Trump once again flipping the state red on Tuesday evening, after the state flipped blue in 2020.

The Republican previously ran for Senate in the 2022 primary, but lost out to the Trump-endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz, who went on to lose to then-Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, D-Pa.
