Hamadeh leads Arizona House primary following Trump endorsement: poll
Trump endorsed his candidacy in early December.
Following his endorsement by former President Donald Trump, Arizona GOP House candidate Abe Hamadeh has claimed a substantial lead over his primary opponents, according to an internal poll.
Hamadeh, who previously ran for state attorney general in 2022, announced his candidacy for the seat within hours of incumbent GOP Rep. Debbie Lesko indicating she would not seek reelection. Trump endorsed his candidacy in early December.
He now appears to command a significant lead, drawing 37% support among likely Republican voters in a survey from National Public Affairs, Politico reported. Trailing him were former Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters with 14%, state House Speaker Ben Toma with 7%, former Rep. Trent Franks with 6%, and state Sen. Anthony Kern with 3%.
Lesko endorsed Toma's candidacy.
Conducted Dec. 16-17, the survey questioned 418 likely Republican voters and has a margin of error of +/- 4.8%.
"Abe Hamadeh is a veteran, a former prosecutor and fearless fighter for our elections. He will be a true WARRIOR in Congress, and always put America First! As everyone knows, Abe fought for our Country overseas, and knows that the American people are demanding the kind of bold leadership that ushered in peace and prosperity just three years ago," Trump said in his early December endorsement.
