Harris ad casts her as border hawk, promises fentanyl crackdown
The ad appears to signal a shift in messaging from the campaign's past shyness over her role as "border czar."
A recent Harris campaign ad cast her as a stalwart advocate of border security and included a pledge that she would "crack down" on traffickers bringing narcotics and illegal immigrants into the country.
"Kamala Harris has spent decades fighting violent crime. As a border state prosecutor, she took on drug cartels and jailed gang members for smuggling weapons and drugs across the border," the ad stated. "As vice president, she backed the toughest border control bill in decades."
"As president, she will hire thousands more border agents and crack down on fentanyl and human trafficking. Fixing the border is tough. So is Kamala Harris," it concluded.

The ad appears to signal a shift in messaging from the campaign's past shyness over her role as "border czar." Democrats previously distanced Harris from the southern border and insisted she had been responsible for dealing with the root causes of migration.
