President Joe Biden on Tuesday received his fifth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, using the event to urge Americans to get updated booster shots ahead of the holiday season.

The president received the booster while at a press conference with representatives of Walgreens and CVS, as well as Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra. He had previously received two shots of the Pfizer vaccine followed by two more boosters.

"We're here with a simple message: Get vaccinated, update your COVID vaccine," Biden said during the event. "It's incredibly effective, but the truth is not enough people are getting it. We've got to change that so that we can all have a safe and healthy holiday season."

"Can we repeat what happened in the past winters?" he continued. "More infections, more hospitalizations, more loved ones getting sick, even dying, from the virus. Or are we going to have a much better winter if we use all the tools we have available to us now?"

CDC data states that just over a third of Americans above the age of five have received their "first booster dose."
