A member of the Heritage Foundation board has resigned in protest over President Kevin Roberts's defense of Tucker Carlson in the wake of his interview with far-right commentator Nick Fuentes.

Robert P. George announced his departure on Monday, specifically pointing to Roberts's unwillingness to fully retract his prior statement defending Carlson, who interview Fuentes in October. Roberts apologized for his video statement, but declined to disavow Carlson.

"Although Kevin publicly apologized for some of what he said in the video, he could not offer a full retraction of its contents," George stated. "So, we reached an impasse."

Carlson's interview with Fuentes led a number of conservative leaders to call for his ouster from the movement to deem him an anti-Semite. President Donald Trump over the weekend, defended Carlson for interviewing Fuentes and insisted that no one could tell him who to interview.

Fuentes's supporters, known as Groypers, have mocked the frustrations of the pro-Israel right over the interview, labeling the outrage saga as the "Tuckercaust" in a bid to trivialize the matter.
