President Joe Biden may face an additional primary challenger in 2024 in the form of Minnesota Democratic Rep. Dean Phillips, who has indicated an openness to such a campaign.

Biden currently faces Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Hollywood guru Marianne Williamson, neither of whom have managed to attract enough support to seriously threaten his status as the presumptive party nominee.

In an episode of The Warning, slated for publication on Friday, Phillips teased the possibility of a presidential run, saying "I am thinking about it. I haven't ruled it out," the Washington Examiner reported.

"I think there are people who are more proximate — better prepared to campaign with a national organization, national name recognition, which I do not possess. But I do feel strongly and I have a conviction that it's important for democracy to have choices, to have competition," he went on.

"I do still think there's some time for somebody to enter. I'm still encouraging others who I think are better prepared right now to run a great campaign," he continued. "I'm concerned that there is no alternative. I'm concerned that something could happen between now and next November that would make the Democratic convention in Chicago an unmitigated disaster."

Other names have surfaced as would-be stand-ins for Biden should he decline to run again, including California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom. He has, however, urged the nation to abandon the prospect of Biden not seeking reelection, saying "President Biden is going to run, and we’re looking forward to getting him reelected."

He further opined earlier this month that Vice President Kamala Harris would be the obvious person to assume Biden's place in any such circumstance.
