House Republicans tap Blake Moore for conference vice chair after Johnson promotion

House Republicans on Wednesday elected Utah Rep. Blake Moore to the position of conference vice chairman.
Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik confirmed the outcome of the contest on X, sending Moore a congratulatory message. The conference voted early Wednesday morning, choosing Moore out of a crowded field of seven other candidates.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve my colleagues. We'll work hard to move forward the House GOP's 'Commitment to America' and fight for a better American future!" he said after the vote.
The position ranks 7th in GOP leadership and aids the conference chair in planning meetings and presenting party messaging, according to The Hill.
He will succeed Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., whom the party tapped to become Speaker of the House following the ouster of Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., from the job.
