Ohio GOP Sen. Jon Husted is pushing to ram through a House-approved bill that would shield consumers from heightened energy costs from data centers.

The House passed the Ratepayers Protection Act earlier this week in a 417-3 vote.

Husted plans to ask the Senate for unanimous consent to push through the bill and send it to President Donald Trump's desk, Politico reported.

The Senate can approve legislation without going through the 60-vote filibuster threshold if no lawmaker objects to such a request for unanimous consent.

Husted is facing a tough election in November against former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown. Husted was appointed to the seat when then-GOP Sen. JD Vance became vice president.
