JD Vance calls on Tim Walz to resign amid Minnesota fraud scandal
Minneapolis has become a hotspot for immigration enforcement operations amid the scandal, leading to violent altercations between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers and local demonstrators.
Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday called on Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., to resign amid an ongoing scandal involving large-scale welfare fraud linked to the Somali expat community in Minneapolis.
"I think Tim Walz should resign," he told Fox News's Jesse Watters. ”I almost feel bad for the guy, except for the fact that he should have seen this and whether there was something criminal, whether he was aware of the fraud which would be criminal, or whether he simply looked the other way, it's a massive, massive failure of government."
Vance's remarks come after Walz ended his reelection bid in the face of national backlash over the fraud issue. Viral videos from independent journalist Nick Shirley documented apparently fraudulent daycare centers in the state, while other investigations have uncovered other rampant misuse of public funds.
