John Bolton slams Seb Gorka as a 'con man' after Trump picks him for counterterrorism director
Trump announced Friday that his former White House aide Sebastian Gorka would return to the White House as the senior director for counterterrorism.
John Bolton, a former national security adviser for President-elect Donald Trump, slammed his most recent pick, that being for director of counterterrorism.
“Well, Sebastian Gorka is a con man," Bolton said during a CNN interview. "I wouldn’t have him in any U.S. government."
Trump announced Friday that his former White House aide Sebastian Gorka would return to the White House as the senior director for counterterrorism.
That is a position in the White House National Security Council.
"Fortunately, it’s not the highest position he had been mentioned for. But I don’t think it’s going to bode well for counterterrorism efforts when the [National Security Council’s] senior director is somebody like that," Bolton said.
“He doesn’t want Gorka’s opinions. He wants Gorka to say, ‘Yes, sir,'” he added. “And I am fully confident that’s exactly what will happen no matter what it is Trump says.”
Trump, who fired Bolton in 2019 over policy differences, described Gorka as a “tireless advocate for the America First Agenda and the MAGA Movement," according to The Hill.
