House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday indicated he would support Rep. Thomas Massie's, R-Ky., bill to force the Department of Justice to release the Epstein files.

The lower chamber is set to vote on the measure on Tuesday after Massie successfully secured 218 signatures from lawmakers to force the issue.

“I’m going to vote to move this forward. I think it could be close to a unanimous vote, because everybody here, all the Republicans, want to go on record to show your maximum transparency,” Johnson told reporters.

Johnson further opined that the matter was a show vote for critics of President Donald Trump, who previously called the Epstein matter a "hoax."

Trump, this week, urged Republicans to back the release of the files as a way of ending the matter.
