Josh Hawley becomes 18th senator to endorse Trump for president in 2024

Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley on Tuesday endorsed former President Donald Trump's bid to return to the White House in 2024.

"President Trump doesn't need to worry. I'm with him. He's asked me several times to support him. I said yes. And I've been saying for a year that I think he's gonna be the nominee. I support him. I'm gonna vote for him. Don't worry — you can put me down as support, endorsed, stand with," Hawley told Politico.

His endorsement made the senior senator from Missouri the 18th upper chamber lawmaker to back the ex-commander-in-chief. Hawley, for his part, faces reelection in 2024, though Missouri is typically regarded as a Republican-leaning state.

Hawley's comments, however, follow a vague warning from Trump over the weekend for both Hawley and Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz to "be careful" amid Democratic challenges.

"So interesting that the Democrats are looking hard at the Senate races in both Missouri and Texas. Josh and Ted must be very careful, stranger things have happened!!!" he posted on Truth Social.
