The twelve jurors selected to determine the guilt or innocence of alleged killer Luigi Mangione will remain anonymous, following an order from the judge.

Mangione stands accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The case has achieved a national profile, with some of the public embracing Mangione as a populist cult hero amid frustration with the healthcare industry.

Justice Gregory Carro issued the Tuesday order to keep the jurors anonymous, in a bid to protect them from harassment or improper influences, The Hill reported.

He will not face the death penalty, if convicted, due to the dismissal of a series of federal charges that would have made him eligible for execution.

Instead, he is set to face state-level charges in New York, with the trial set to begin Sept. 8.
