Michigan county board approves resolution urging Gov. Whitmer's impeachment
Some Republican state representatives last week had put forward an impeachment resolution, but Michigan's Republican Speaker of the House Rep. Lee Chatfield spoke against impeaching Whitmer.
The Kalkaska County board of commissioners has approved a resolution urging the impeachment of Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The vote earlier this month was 4-2 and one member of the board was not present, according to WPBN/WGTU. "We're told a copy of the resolution will be sent to the legislature," the report said.
Some Republican state representatives put forward an impeachment resolution in Michigan last week, but the state's Speaker of the House Rep. Lee Chatfield spoke against impeaching Whitmer.
“We’re not the party that impeaches someone because we’re upset with policies that they’ve enacted,” the Republican Chatfield said, according to MLive. “I thought it was shameful what the Democrats did to President Trump last year, and I would assume that any attempt by Republicans right now, with the current set of facts that we have to impeach the governor, would be on the same level.”
