Lucianne Goldberg, who helped break Clinton-Lewinsky scandal, dies at 87

Conservative literary agent Lucianne Goldberg has died at the age of 87.

Goldberg's son, journalist Jonah Goldberg, confirmed the death, per the New York Times.

Goldberg achieved a degree of fame, or notoriety, for her role in exposing former President Bill Clinton's illicit activities with Monica Lewinsky by suggesting to Pentagon aide Linda Tripp that she record her conversations with the president's intern.

Said recordings became key pieces of evidence in the special counsel investigation into Clinton for lying under oath when he denied the affair. Goldberg further advised Tripp to persuade Lewinsky not to clean a dress she wore during one of her encounters with Clinton, and also leaked details of the scandal to the press at timely moments.

Her passing follows that of the special counsel who pursued the investigation, Kenneth Starr, who died in September of this year.
