Voters seem ready to remove Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas as Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene moves to impeach him, with a recent survey showing him in the red with voters amid an ongoing surge in illegal border crossings.

Greene on Wednesday reintroduced articles of impeachment against Mayorkas, saying "We’ve seen the evidence of him breaking the law. It’s time for the Senate to try him for it."

Her official move followed a Rasmussen Reports survey showing that voters want him gone by large margins, with 55% of likely voters supporting his impeachment, compared to 33% who opposed the move.

Thirty-seven percent of respondents "strongly approve" of the effort, while 22% "strongly disapprove" and 12% were unsure. The survey questioned 997 likely voters from Nov. 16, 19-20 and has a margin of error of +/- 3%.

Mayorkas has drawn flak for his handling of immigration, especially at the southern border with Mexico, where U.S. Customs and Border Protection have documented nearly 7 million border encounters since President Joe Biden took office.

Biden himself currently holds an average 34.5% approval rating on immigration, according to RealClearPolitics, while 62.5% disapprove of his handling of the issue.
