U.N. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield on Friday told Politico that former State Department spokesman Ned Price would become her next deputy.

Price has an extensive record in foreign affairs and currently serves as a senior advisor to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, a role he has held since March of 2023 when he stepped down as Department spokesman. The new role will not require Senate confirmation.

"I’m humbled and honored to serve Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and the broader administration in this position. America has tremendous capacity for good within the U.N. and broader multilateral system, and I look forward to helping drive our agenda with allies and partners," Price said of his new position.

Thomas-Greenfield, meanwhile, told the outlet that "[h]is judgment and expertise will be a tremendous asset to me and the entire USUN team."

Price will replace Jeffrey Prescott, who left to take another position representing U.S. interests to U.N. food and agriculture agencies.
